Information about Mental illnesses
Most people experience feelings of anxiety before an important event such as a big exam, business presentation or first date. Anxiety disorders, however, are illnesses that fill people’s lives with overwhelming anxiety and fears that are chronic, unremitting, and can grow progressively worse. Fortunately there are effective treatments that work. Anxiety disorders can be further characterized into social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. In the past, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder were also characterized under anxiety disorders; however, these disorders are now classified under separate categories. We have also added some information about major depressive disorder. Please click on the links below to learn more about each individual mental illness.
